The Youth Performing Arts School Choral Ensembles and Singers have been actively engaged in the vocal arts since the school opened in 1977. Founding director, David Brown, established a tradition of excellence that was continued through the tenure of Dr. Tim Glasscock and that we continually strive to maintain today.
The choirs have performed worldwide on concert tours, been invited to sing at a presidential inauguration, performed with local organizations and in the Louisville community, and have been invited to perform in conferences with the American Choral Director's Association, Intercollegiate Men's Choruses, and the Kentucky Music Educators Association.
Our students are also active in studio voice programs and have an individual singing requirement in our classes. All students in our program sing in semester juries, and all of our magnet students also perform in solo recitals and KMEA solo and ensemble. Many of our students go on to pursue vocal performance or music education in college.
